Who runs attendance in Delhi NCR
A garment or packaging unit in Okhla or Udyog Vihar puts 30 to 150 people on a production floor. Tailors, checkers and pressers draw a monthly salary fixed by skill grade, with overtime through export dispatch weeks. The helpers beside them are counted by the day, so one floor closes two pay bases on the same date.
The trading side is smaller and just as mixed. A wholesale firm in Sadar Bazar or Nehru Place carries 5 to 25 counter staff, packers and delivery riders on a monthly salary plus a festival-season incentive. Manufacturing units, retail shops, contractors and warehouses here pay on their own bases and meet the same wall at month end, which is a day count nobody can prove.
What makes it hard here
Two pay bases on one cutting floor
Tailors and pressers draw a monthly figure fixed by skill grade. The helpers alongside them are counted by the day. A supervisor writing one register for both converts between them by hand, and the helper's count is the one that gets challenged. Presence is recorded per person per day instead.
One payroll, three state schedules
An export house with a stitching unit in Delhi, a floor in Gurugram and a warehouse in Ghaziabad reconciles three wage schedules, three holiday lists and three inspection registers for one set of people. VTClock holds none of those schedules. Each unit becomes its own office with its own holiday calendar.
GRAP days empty the office and stall the site
Winter smog brings curbs that send a share of office staff home to work and stop construction outright. Nobody stands at a geofence on those days, so each opens as absent until somebody settles it. An admin corrects them on the attendance list, or the leave module records approved leave or loss of pay.
Dispatch-week overtime hides inside a general shift
The floor works 09:00 to 18:00 until a shipment deadline, when a second shift and long hours appear for a fortnight and then vanish. A register carrying one tick per day loses that. Check-in and check-out times show who stayed, though the overtime amount is yours.
Geofencing around Delhi NCR
Radius is a per-location decision across this region. A multi-floor garment unit in Okhla shares its walls with a dozen more, so the boundary is drawn narrow or a machinist marks himself in from the stairwell next door. A Udyog Vihar plot with a loading dock and a gatehouse takes more room. A counter inside a Nehru Place tower block takes less, while a Bawana factory ground stretches furthest.
Shifts, grace and late marks
The factory general shift works 09:00 to 18:00, so one grace window at the morning end covers most of the floor. The second shift that larger Okhla and Faridabad units add carries its own start time, its own grace and its own late mark. Market staff open late morning and trade until 21:00, with a weekly closing day that changes market by market. Night loading on the NH-9 corridor runs as an overnight shift.
How a rollout usually goes
A garment export house of about ninety people, a stitching unit in Delhi and a finishing floor in Gurugram, spends its first week on configuration. Two offices go in, each with its own radius, then the six-day week, the holiday calendar and the first admin login. The second week adds the people: tailors, checkers, pressers and helpers, each with an assigned office, a shift and a login code, while the supervisor keeps the old register running alongside. The fourth week closes a month without it.
A worked example
Say a garment unit pays a tailor a monthly salary of INR 19,200 against 26 payable days. That is INR 19,200 / 26 = INR 738.46 a day, rounded to two decimals. He is present on 24 days, and the admin marks the two GRAP work-from-home days as paid, so all 26 stand and the month closes at the full INR 19,200. A helper on that floor is on a daily wage of INR 560 for 22 days, which is INR 560 x 22 = INR 12,320. These numbers are an example.
Seasons and local holidays
Chhath Puja empties the floor for longer than the notified day, since much of the workforce travels east and comes back in waves. Diwali on 8 November 2026 follows a fortnight of peak trading in Sadar Bazar and Chandni Chowk. Holi adds travel days either side, and Guru Nanak Jayanti closes north Delhi trading.
Frequently asked questions
Does the app handle three state wage schedules across our Delhi, Gurugram and Noida units?
No. VTClock holds no wage schedule for Delhi, Haryana or Uttar Pradesh and does not check what you pay against one. Delhi revises its rates by skill grade twice a year, on 1 April and 1 October, through a variable dearness allowance. The Haryana and Uttar Pradesh payrolls move on their own dates.
GRAP curbs kept half our office staff at home for four days. How do those days get recorded?
Check-in works only near the assigned office and a remote punch is blocked, so a day worked from home opens as absent. An admin corrects each of those days on the attendance list, or the staff member files them through the leave module and the admin settles them.

Yes. Attendance is captured the same way for everyone: a check-in and a check-out near the assigned office, with every punch, late mark and admin correction landing on the desk with a location pin. The salary module builds the monthly figure from days present, holidays, weekly offs and approved leave.
Machinists from Kapashera and clerks from Ghaziabad reach the gate late most mornings. Must I write that off by hand?
Set a grace period on the shift that reflects the crossing, and an arrival inside it stops producing a late mark. Past that window the check-in reaches the admin desk with its time and a location pin, and an admin can waive it there rather than at month end.
Can a line supervisor mark the whole shift present at the gate in one go?
No. Each person checks in on their own login code, near the office they are assigned to, on the phone or desktop app. There is no group marking and no supervisor punching on behalf of a line. Every check-in reaches the admin desk with its own location pin.
