Who runs attendance in Mumbai
A food and QSR chain here carries twenty-five to a hundred and twenty people on a monthly salary with overtime and a shift allowance. A security and housekeeping agency staffing office towers runs a hundred to six hundred, on a monthly wage per deployed post, billed to the client. Both pay by days worked, and neither owner stands where those days get counted.
The trading side works differently. A wholesale shop with counter and loading staff keeps six to thirty, monthly salary with a festival bonus and a daily wage for loaders. A godown crew in the Bhiwandi warehousing belt runs forty to three hundred. Restaurants, retail shops, security agencies, facility services and warehouses all need one fact first: who was where.
What makes it hard here
A single late local makes the whole shift late together
Counter staff travel twenty-five kilometres and more from Virar, Kalyan and Dombivli. When the suburban line stalls, nine of them reach the shutter together and each carries a late mark. Punch times sit on the admin desk with a location pin, so a manager can waive those marks and the record shows it.
Waterlogged tracks blur the July absence column
Monsoon water on the Central Railway tracks at Masjid, Byculla and Dadar stops services. A paper register cannot tell a washout from a skipped shift. Staff apply through the leave module with the dates, an admin approves it or marks loss of pay, and the month closes on that decision.
Nobody sees which shutter went up on time
A chain with outlets from Colaba to Borivali cannot put the owner at every opening. Configure each outlet as its own address with its own circle, and post each person to the outlet where they actually work. The first punch of the day reaches the admin desk with its time and a location pin.

A shop in the Zaveri Bazaar and Bhuleshwar lanes stands metres from the next one, so the circle has to be tight enough to exclude the neighbour's counter. A tower in Bandra Kurla Complex has a lobby, a basement and a service entrance, which needs more room. A godown in the Bhiwandi belt runs from the plot gate to the loading yard, so the circle grows again.
Shifts, grace and late marks
Offices around Lower Parel and Nariman Point work roughly 9:30am to 6:30pm, often staggered to dodge the peak rush, so set grace at the start of each stagger and read late marks against that start. Guard and housekeeping posts change over near 8am and 8pm on twelve-hour rosters. A dinner service running past midnight is set as an overnight shift. Pre-dawn market and godown shifts start before the first local.
How a rollout usually goes
A food chain with five outlets across Mumbai and about seventy people starts with the one thing it cannot see, which is the morning opening. The owner configures each outlet as an office, sets a radius that stops at the shopfront, and adds the workweek and the holiday list. Staff get a login code and an assigned outlet. For the first fortnight the shift managers still fill the sheet, then stop once the punch times match what they were writing. Month two closes from the record alone.
A worked example
Say a QSR outlet supervisor is on a monthly salary of INR 16,000 with 26 payable days. The day rate is INR 16,000 / 26 = INR 615.38, rounded to two decimals. Two late marks from a track disruption are waived, so nothing comes off. One half day costs INR 615.38 / 2 = INR 307.69. A late-shift allowance of INR 60 across 8 closing nights adds INR 60 x 8 = INR 480. The month lands at INR 16,000 - INR 307.69 + INR 480 = INR 16,172.31.

A late local made nine staff late at once. Do they all get a late mark?
Yes. Each punch is timed against the shift you set for that person. The admin desk shows every check-in with its time and a location pin, so a manager can see the group arrived within the same few minutes. Late marks can be waived, and the record keeps showing they were waived.
My guards rotate between client towers in Bandra Kurla Complex. How do I set that up?
Each person is assigned to one office, so a guard checks in at the tower they are posted to. When the posting changes, change their assigned office. An admin corrects a punch that could not land mid-rotation. VTClock does not handle client billing or the Maharashtra wage schedule your posts are rated against.
Our dinner service ends past midnight and the same team is back at lunch. What gets recorded?
A check-in and a check-out against the shift assigned to that person, with grace and late marks measured from the shift start you set. A service closing after midnight is set as an overnight shift, so both ends count as one shift. VTClock does not track a mid-day break separately.
Will this work for a pre-dawn godown crew in the Bhiwandi belt?
Yes. Set the godown as an office with a radius covering the plot and the loading yard, then set the shift start where the crew begins, before the first local runs. Pickers on a daily wage are paid from the days the record shows, through the daily wages module.
Can someone mark themselves present from home when they cannot reach the site?
No. A check-in registers only inside the geofence around the office that person is assigned to, and an off-site punch is blocked. There is no offline punch. If someone was held up on a diversion, an admin corrects that day, or the leave module records approved leave or loss of pay.
