Who runs attendance in Ludhiana
A hosiery and knitwear unit of twenty-five to eighty hands splits its pay basis down the middle. Knitting and packing draw a monthly salary. Stitching and checking settle per piece, usually through a contractor who hires the hands, pays them and holds the only list of who came in.
A cycle-parts or forging job-work shop inside a Focal Point phase runs eight to thirty men on a daily wage with overtime. Stitching is contracted out and the register goes with the contractor
Per-garment work is placed with a contractor who hires the stitchers, pays them and keeps whatever list exists. The unit that ships the goods cannot say who sat at which machine on the fourteenth. Put those hands on your own record, a login code each, and the day is yours.
The winter-wear peak and the train home fall in the same weeks
Orders for woollens run October to December, exactly when hands leave for Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh. Reported absence runs around 35 to 40 percent of the workforce, and 50 to 60 percent in woollen units. A paper register cannot hold a roster that thins and refills weekly.
Hands move to the next shutter on the same street
Job-work shops sit door to door on Gill Road and inside the Focal Point phases, so a knitter can take a better piece rate two units away and start there on Monday. Headcount and register stop agreeing by mid-month. Adding a worker or closing one takes two minutes.
A wet batch keeps the dyeing floor running past the shift end
Processing houses on Tajpur Road and Bahadur Ke Road cannot leave a batch half finished, so running extends and the checkout lands hours after the shift was meant to close. Give that roster its own shift and grace, and set it as an overnight shift once it crosses midnight.

The contractor's stitchers follow, each with a login code, so the unit holds a day-by-day record for the people who sew its garments. The paper register runs three more weeks and stops.
A worked example
Say a knitting machine operator draws INR 14,900 a month against 26 payable days. That is INR 14,900 / 26 = INR 573.08 a day, rounded to two decimals. He takes a four-day block at Chhath, marked loss of pay: 4 x INR 573.08 = INR 2,292.32 off, leaving INR 12,607.68. The admin also marked three extra days at the peak. Overtime is not worked out for you, so the unit applies its own rate of INR 700: 3 x INR 700 = INR 2,100 on top, and the month closes at INR 14,707.68.
Seasons and local holidays
October to December brings the winter-wear orders and empties the floor at the same time. Migrants leave before Diwali and often stay away through Chhath Puja, so the absence runs as one long block. Guru Nanak Jayanti shuts the bazaars in late November. Lohri in mid-January is short.

Half the unit goes home before Diwali and drifts back after Chhath. How does that month get recorded?
Nobody checks in, so those days open as absent. The worker applies through the leave module with dates, or an admin corrects the days from the attendance list and marks the block loss of pay. Salary builds from what is settled there, so a man back on the eighteenth is paid from that day.
We run overtime through the winter-wear peak. Does the app work out the extra pay?
No. VTClock does not calculate overtime and it does not hold your rate for it. It holds the day record: who checked in, who came late, which marks were waived, and the extra days an admin recorded through the peak. You apply the rate your unit pays for those days.
A knitter left for the shop next door and a new man starts on the twelfth. What then?
Add the new man with an assigned office, a shift and a login code, and his days count from the day he starts. Close the one who left, and the days he already worked stay on the record for his final wages. A paper register loses this part first.
Do we need a machine at the gate for any of this?
No. There is no gate device, no fingerprint reader and no card. Each worker signs in on the phone app with a login code and checks in near the office he is assigned to. A punch from outside that circle is blocked, so nobody marks himself present from the road.
